The Laurels is a 17th century coaching house set in the historic village of Petrockstowe in North Devon. Much has changed over the centuries but in this part of the village visitors can see the original thatched cottages and the village centre almost as it was 300 years ago. The churchyard contains a burial mound of the Royalist soldiers who were killed during the Civil War The Laurels, or The White Hart as it was first known, has had many other uses, it started life as a coaching house on the main route from Launceston to Lynton, it has been a magistrates court, a home for fallen women of the parish, a lodging house, a coffee tavern and a private house. It re-opened as a public house in the mid seventies
The Laurels carries on the Devon tradition of welcoming locals and travellers alike, with an award winning range of beers, both modern and traditional. Top quality food is served at most competitive prices, catering for all tastes and requirements. The Laurels is situated just a mile from the now famous Tarka Trail, cyclists and walkers will always find a warm welcome from Lyn & her team and a refreshing drink to satisfy all
